At every level, the Louisiana Federation of Teachers and our affiliates actively lobby for issues that affect public education.
NATIONAL:
The American Federation of Teachers lobbies Congress, the Department of Education and the Administration, fighting for sensible education reform and to protect the rights of professional educators.
STATE:
The Louisiana Federation of Teachers works with the State Legislature, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, the State Department of Education, the College Boards, the Retirement Systems and the Administration on education policy.
LOCAL:
LFT local officers and field representatives attend committee and school board meetings to ensure that teacher and school employee voices are heard when local policies are developed.
